Victor Rabinovitch Named Director of the Year at the RGA Gala of Excellence Gatineau, Quebec, April 19, 2005 – The Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation (CMCC) is proud to announce that Dr. Victor Rabinovitch was named Director of the Year in the Parapublic Sector at the Regroupement des gens d’affaires d’Ottawa Gala of Excellence. Dr. Rabinovitch, CEO of the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation, received the Award of Excellence on Saturday, April 16, at the Ottawa Congress Centre.
His work at the helm of the CMCC, which includes the Canadian Museum of Civilization and the Canadian War Museum, has not gone unnoticed. "The development of close ties with the many cultural communities has helped raise awareness of our institutions," declared Dr. Rabinovitch. "This award demonstrates how much a museum team and its popular activities can contribute to the economic and cultural life of the city and the community."
Dr. Rabinovitch is entering his second five-year mandate at the head of the CMCC. Since his appointment in April 2000, his numerous achievements have included the completion of the Canada Hall, the opening of the First Peoples Hall, the presentation of major exhibitions and the improvement of CMC signage. He has also launched various community activities, the most recent of which is an annual blood drive in association with Héma-Québec.
The Canadian Museum of Civilization is now the largest and most popular museum in Canada. This summer, the Museum is presenting five new special exhibitions: Cool 60s Design; Beads of Life – Eastern and Southern African Adornments; Your House, My House; The Caring Profession: Centuries of Nursing in Canada; and Pompeii. Headlining these major coming events is the official opening of the new Canadian War Museum, which will take place on May 8, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of VE Day, which marks the end of the Second World War in Europe.
