100th anniversary of St. Joseph’s Oratory celebrated at the Canadian Postal Museum Gatineau, Quebec, April 22, 2005 – In conjunction with the activities celebrating the 100th anniversary of St. Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal, the Canadian Postal Museum and the Oratory’s Philatelic Circle are pleased to present Saint Joseph in Philately, a new exhibition that opened on April 5.
This exhibition features 389 stamps from the collection of more than 3,000 assembled by the Oratory’s Research and Documentation Centre. There are stamps from Canada, the United States and elsewhere showing various aspects of St. Joseph as he is portrayed in the bible, popular traditions and the arts, as well as buildings dedicated to him.
Located in the Collector’s Corner, Saint Joseph in Philately is on display at the Canadian Postal Museum in the Canadian Museum of Civilization until January 6, 2006.
