Opening of the Canadian War Museum - Road Closures on Sunday, May 8


Ottawa, Ontario, May 2, 2005 - The Canadian War Museum will hold its Opening Ceremony on Sunday, May 8, starting at 3 p.m. The ceremony will be preceded by events commemorating the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe, including a parade from the National War Memorial to the Canadian War Museum, starting at 11:30 a.m.

Road closures

From 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Wellington Street will be closed between Mackenzie Street and the Portage Bridge to allow the parade of veterans to pass. The Mill Restaurant will remain accessible to patrons.

From 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Booth Street will be closed in both directions, between Eddy Street in Gatineau and Albert Street in Ottawa. The Ottawa River Parkway eastbound will be closed from Parkdale Avenue, and Wellington Street westbound will be closed from the Portage Bridge.

We will be providing free parking at Tunney's Pasture and at the Robert Guertin Arena. Both sites will offer free shuttle service to and from the Museum.
