The Canadian War Museum presents the special Exhibition Canada's Gunners: The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery

Ottawa, Ontario, May 26, 2005 - A new special exhibition, Canada's Gunners: The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery, is now open at the Canadian War Museum (CWM) in the LeBreton Gallery.

Celebrating the accomplishments and service of the Royal Canadian Artillery (RCA) over the past 150 years, this exhibition features interactive screens, artifacts and has been timed to coincide with the issue of a commemorative envelope featuring one of Canada's most venerable military units.

The first militia batteries of The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery were formed in 1855, and were followed in 1871 by A and B Batteries, Canada's first professional military units. Today, more than 4,000 Gunners continue a tradition of service in 25 units across Canada and on missions around the world.

Visitors will be able to meet with former and current gunners, hear their stories and learn what they do, during weekends until July 1, and daily for the months of July and August.

The exhibition will be on display until November 1, 2005 in LeBreton Gallery.

A stunning architectural feat, the Canadian War Museum is specifically designed to meet the needs of Canada's national museum of military history. Strategically located close to Parliament Hill in downtown Ottawa, it includes sufficient space for the museum's diverse activities and offerings. The Museum is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursdays until 9 p.m. Admission is free on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and half-price all day Sunday.
