Learn about Mi’gmaq art at the Canadian Museum of Civilization Gatineau, Quebec, July 6, 2005 — In July, join Mi’gmaq artist Todd Labrador who will demonstrate the art of making birch-bark containers and beautiful ash baskets at the Canadian Museum of Civilization. Todd Labrador, also known as “Waterdancer,” is a traditional artist whose artistic knowledge and skills were passed on to him by his father and great grandfather. Mr. Labrador enjoys teaching youth and nurturing Mi’gmaq culture and traditions, since for him it’s a way to ensure his people’s ways are not lost.
