Band of the Ceremonial Guard at the Canadian War Museum

Ottawa, Ontario, July 20, 2005 — On Thursday, July 28, 2005 at 6:30 p.m., relax and enjoy rousing music performed by one of the top military bands in the country when The Band of the Ceremonial Guard presents a free concert in the LeBreton Gallery of the Canadian War Museum. The Band of the Ceremonial Guard will perform a concert of military marches and big band swing from the First and Second World Wars.

The Band of the Ceremonial Guard includes brass and reed musicians, percussionists and twelve pipers. Each summer, the band provides musical support for the Changing of the Guard: the world-famous ceremony held every day during the summer months on Parliament Hill. The band also takes part in a number of musical events in the National Capital Region, including visits from foreign heads of state and other official military functions.

This is also a great opportunity to visit the Museum’s magnificent collection of artifacts and military art during the Year of the Veteran.

The Museum is open seven days a week, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Thursdays and Fridays until 9:00 p.m. Admission is free on Thursday from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m., and half-price all day on Sunday.
