Royal Canadian Artillery Band gives free performance at the Canadian War Museum

Ottawa, Ontario, August 18, 2005 — On Saturday, August 27, 2005 from 11 a.m. to noon, relax and enjoy rousing music performed by one of the top military bands in the country, The Royal Canadian Artillery Band, which presents a free outdoor concert on the plaza outside the Canadian War Museum (weather permitting).

The Royal Canadian Artillery Band, one of six Canadian Forces (CF) professional musical ensembles, is a unit of 35 highly skilled musicians, stationed in Edmonton, Alberta since 1997. Its members are proudly linked to The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery in Shilo, Manitoba.

This free concert is in conjunction with the special exhibition Canada’s Gunners: The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery, which celebrates the accomplishments and service of the Royal Canadian Artillery over the past 150 years. Canada’s Gunners, which is now on display in the LeBreton Gallery, features interactive screens and numerous artifacts. In addition, everyday throughout the month of August, visitors are welcome to meet former and current gunners, hear their stories and learn what they do.

The Museum is open seven days a week, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Thursdays and Fridays until 9:00 p.m. Admission is free on Thursday from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m., and half-price all day on Sunday.
