Summer delights continue into fall at the Canadian Postal Museum

Gatineau, Quebec, September 1, 2005 — This fall, summer fun continues throughout September weekends at the Canadian Postal Museum, located in the Canadian Museum of Civilization. Join us for A Well-Kept Secret, a special event that offers visitors two options: you can either create an original, whimsical letter using cut-outs of words and illustrations, or you can carve your own personal wax seal, like the ones commonly used from the sixteenth to the nineteenth centuries, before the gummed envelopes were invented. Sponsored by Canada Post.

During your next visit to the Canadian Museum of Civilization, be sure to visit the special exhibitions inside the Canadian Postal Museum. Discover a fascinating selection of Canadian stamps issued between 1997 and 2004 with Postage Stamps: Image of a Country, or see a selection of 389 stamps from a collection of more than 3,000 postage stamps in Saint Joseph in Philately, an exhibition created by the of Research and Documentation Centre of the Saint Joseph Oratory (presented in association with the Oratory’s Philatelic Circle).

While there, make sure you see our unique collection of stamps, displayed in our permanent exhibitions. Reflections of Canada — The National Stamp Collection displays a sample of every postage stamp ever issued in Canada and the provinces, a total of nearly 3,000 stamps (produced in association with Canada Post and the National Archives of Canada); Signed, Sealed, Delivered presents the most significant events in the development of the postal system. For younger visitors, Stamp QuestTM provides a lively, interactive introduction to the world of stamps and stamp collecting.
