Hallowe’en with a twist at the Canadian Children’s Museum


Gatineau, Quebec, October 14, 2005 – Come to the Canadian Children’s Museum at the Canadian Museum of Civilization to celebrate Hallowe’en cowboy-style or Mexican-style. Make your own cowboy or cowgirl costume and see how the Day of the Dead is celebrated in Mexico. While you’re here, visit our new exhibition, Joshua’s Journey, presented in the Canadian Children’s Museum until January 22, 2006.

Dress Up as a Cowboy or Cowgirl this Hallowe’en!
October 22 and 23
, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Come to the Studio and create an original cowboy or cowgirl costume. Select from a variety of supplies and make a vest and chaps, a vest and bolo, or any combination of your choice.

Day of the Dead
October 29 and 30
, 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Join our special guests from the Mexican-Canadian community to celebrate Mexico’s annual custom of remembrance known as Los dias de los muertos. Make your own dancing calacas (skeletons) and parade through the village to the sound of mariachi music, then head over to the Studio for cooking workshops at 11:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., where you’ll make sugar skulls to add to the family altar.

Just for You and Your Preschooler
Hallowe’en Hoedown
October 21
, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
This Hallowe’en has a country & western twist. Make your very own "cowpoke" vests and bandanas, listen to cowboy stories in Kaleidoscope Gallery and join a sing-along in the theatre.
