Natural Art workshops during the holidays at the Canadian Museum of Civilization Gatineau, Quebec, December 19, 2005 – During the holidays, take part in a native arts workshop presented by Daniel “Pinock” Smith at the Canadian Museum of Civilization. On December 28 and 29, this traditional canoe builder will demonstrate Anishinabeg techniques for making snowshoes and toboggans with natural materials taken from the environment. Daniel Smith, known as Pinock among his family and friends, was born and resides on the Kitigan-zibi Reserve near Maniwaki, Quebec, with his wife Annette. For the last 20 years, he has been involved in Native Arts and lately, has been doing more Native Awareness Demonstrations in order to share his knowledge of traditional techniques.
