Lunar New Year celebrations at the Canadian Museum of Civilization Gatineau, Quebec, December 22, 2005 – In celebration of the Lunar New Year, the Canadian Museum of Civilization is hosting musical performances in the Grand Hall for the public’s enjoyment. On January 8, a Chinese musician will play the guzheng (pronounced "goo-zheng"), one of the most ancient Chinese traditional music instruments. The guzheng is a plucked stringed instrument that belongs to the zither family. Then on January 22, enjoy a traditional music and dance performance by the Korean ensemble Samulnori. The name of the group means "four instruments"— in this case, four percussion instruments: the kwaengwari, the jing, the janggu, and the buk.
