Hull, October 3, 2001 - The Canadian Museum of Civilization (CMC) advises the general public that its fall/winter hours will come into effect on Tuesday, October 9, 2001.

The CMC will be open six days a week, Tuesday to Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours of business remain the same on Thursdays, when the Museum is open until 9 p.m., except for the Canadian Children’s Museum, which closes at 6 p.m. This schedule will remain in effect until May 1, 2002, which marks the beginning of the spring/summer season.

The special exhibitions Lifelines: Canada’s East Coast Fisheries and Resonance: Musical Heritage of La Francophonie were great successes this summer.

From the time the exhibitions opened in spring 2001 to October 1, more than 143,000 people visited Lifelines, while more than 138,000 enjoyed the concerts and sounds of the Resonance exhibition - and the final figures won’t be in until spring!

Until February 24, 2002, Lifelines will continue to allow visitors to discover the history of the fisheries in the Atlantic - from Native fishing thousands of years ago to the cod fisheries of the seventeenth century, from sealing and whaling to sport fishing. Resonance, presented until April 3, 2003, will continue to set visitors’ feet tapping to the rhythms of the music of the francophone world, with its 145 musical instruments and numerous concerts and demonstrations on the exhibition site.

The CMC reminds visitors that each year, it commemorates Remembrance Day by offering free admission to all on November 11.
