Lace Up: Canada’s Passion for Skating

Lace Up: Canada’s Passion for Skating looks at the integration and diffusion of skating sports throughout Canadian society. This exhibition examines the evolution and transformation of skating, with references to figure skating, speed skating and hockey. It is divided into two historical periods. The first examines skating’s European origins, and the establishment of skating activities in Canada to 1850. The second covers 1850 to the present day, and demonstrates how skating has become part of the very fabric of Canadian society.
