What do dhurrie, bungalow, veranda, and chintz have in common? They are words used in describing homes in India, where decorating is as unique as the families themselves.

It's a busy day. We're getting ready for a wedding. In a Gujarati household, special decorations can be part of family or community celebrations.

The pictures on the walls of this gujarat-inspired house from northern India tell us the story of a mythical wedding. Decorations like these are an important part of the wedding preparations.
