Nigeria
Families, Big and Small
Families come in all sizes. In Hausa families, grandparents,
cousins, uncles and aunts all live close together in the
gida (compound). Everyone works and plays together.
|
This reconstruction of a Hausa household from northern
Nigeria highlights oral traditions and music.
|
Welcome to the gida, a private place for
families where daily activities happen. Help grind the corn to make
tuwo (a thick porridge made by boiling corn) for the evening
meal.
