On the Nile

Secrets in the Sand

Records of people who lived long ago have been found throughout the world - leaving traces of how they lived.

This pyramid is inspired by those found along the Nile River, in Egypt, over 3,000 years ago.

Through a variety of activities here, and in the Communications Tent, visitors learn the tools and techniques archaeologists use as they go about their historical detective work. Decoding hieroglyphics, taking part in role-playing games, visiting a tomb chamber and exploring a secret passage are some of the possibilities that lie within.

Paintings, objects and hieroglyphics give us clues about life in Ancient Egypt.

The wall-paintings provide clues to the activities of daily life and to Ancient Egyptian beliefs.

Explore the daily life and written language of the ancient Egyptians, and discover things still used today - along the Nile.
