Your House, My House
From:  May 14, 2005
To:      September 5, 2005

People the world over live in all kinds of homes – and those homes are made in various ways. Geography, climate, availability of materials, lifestyle and other factors all play a part in how a house is constructed. In this exhibition visitors can learn how a home’s environment can affect its design as they step inside three model homes from around the world: a Mongolian herder’s ger, an m’bure from the tropics of Fiji and a stilt house from a Malaysian fishing village to learn how children in these places might live. Visitors can also design their own house using the tools of the trade or make choices on house components using a computer program.
