Recent Donations: Forsyth and Vaughan Collections
From: August 28, 1998 To: December 12, 1999 |
In our recent donations showcase, we are presenting puppets from two collections which were donated to the Museum in 1996. The Joan and Gordon Forsyth collection consists of close to sixty marionettes made between 1935 and 1945, theatre accessories and a major archival record of the puppet theatre company Forsyth’s Marionettes. The Joseph McCarthy Vaughan collection consists of over ten hand puppets, all made during the 1920s and depicting the traditional puppet theatre characters Punch and Judy. Theatre accessories and archival documents, including a manual on puppet theatre handwritten by Mr. Joseph McCarthy Vaughan, complete the collection.
