The Art of Bronze SculptureGatineau, Quebec, July 19, 2006 — Join us on July 20, in the special exhibition PETRA: Lost City of Stone at the Canadian Museum of Civilization for an exciting demonstration on the lost-wax technique that was used to turn wax images into bronze sculptures. Nadine Argo, a local artist and sculptor, will reveal how theses sculptures were cast.
A major highlight in the Petra exhibition is a nearly life-size bronze statue of the Greco-Roman goddess Artemis, the only surviving statue of its type from Petra, and an example of the many now-lost large sculptures that adorned the main streets and public squares of Petra during the Roman era.
The Art of Bronze Sculpture Thursday, July 20 and August 24, 2006 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Gallery C Free with admission to PETRA
