From Icarus to the Jets

Students are introduced to flight from the myth of Icarus to modern aircraft, including the Silver Dart—the first aircraft to make a powered flight in Canada. Together they discover the Museum’s aircraft and participate in hands-on activities about flight.

Duration: 60 minutes
Fee: $3.50 per student (minimum of $75)

Amazing Air!

What’s strong enough to hold up an airplane yet small enough to sneak through your fingers? What do parachutists use to gently make their way back to earth? Air! Students discover how air can perform these and other feats as they participate in this hands-on workshop.

Duration: 90 minutes
Fee: $4 per student (minimum of $90)

Aviation Flypast

During three interactive demonstrations students experiment with aviation science and technology. The three components are: Lighter-than-Air, from the balloon to the blimp; The Body in Flight, dizziness guaranteed, helmet and G-suit required; and Taking Off, a wind tunnel and aerodynamics demonstration.

Duration: 60 minutes

General Guided Tour

Let our energetic guides take your students on a fascinating exploration through time! The Museum’s superb collection is brought to life with a first-class guided tour using anecdotes, human stories and incredible tales of adventure. Your students will be flying high! Tours are adapted to the age of the students.

Duration: 60 to 90 minutes
Fee: $4 per student (minimum of $90)

Night FlightSleepover Program—Ages 5 to 18

How about a night of total fun at the Canada Aviation Museum! All your students need to bring is a sleeping bag, pillow, toothbrush, and a taste for extraordinary fun. We supply the adventure! They explore the Museum collection by flashlight, find out about aerodynamics through interactive demonstrations, practise on the controls of a Cessna 150, watch a film, sleep “under” the wings of an airplane, and more. The next morning your group will leave the Museum with a fantastic memory of a wonderful Night Flight! For out-of-town groups, Night Flight offers a fun, educational, and affordable accommodation solution!

Night Flight is a program for groups of kids ages 5 to 18 and is available throughout the week. The program schedule and content can be tailored to suit your needs, including curriculum objectives and scouting and guiding badges.

The cost for the program is $24 per child and $11 per accompanying adult (there is a minimum group fee of $450). Prices include all activities and applicable taxes. Maximum group size is 120 participants.

Night Flight is part of the Museum’s Next Generation Program, sponsored by Pratt & Whitney Canada.

From the Ground Up!Evening Program—Ages 5 to 18

From the Ground Up! allows your group to enjoy the same activities and workshops as Night Flight without having the participants sleep over. Just like Night Flight, this program can be tailored to suit your needs. From the Ground Up! is available on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings only.
