Harvest Weekends at the Canada Agriculture Museum

PumpkinThe Canada Agriculture Museum celebrates the arrival of Fall with a variety of special activities. In addition to daily demonstrations such as wool carding, "cooking" for cows and feeding the sheep, the Museum will present special weekend activities centred around Canada’s bountiful harvest in the pretend "Apple Orchard" " and in the Corn Corner on September 30, October 1, October 7-9 (Thanksgiving weekend), October 14-15 and October 21-22.

The following are some of the activities, displays and demonstrations that will be featured at the Museum during the Harvest Weekends

In the "Apple Orchard" (Classroom, Small Animal Barn)

Apple-themed craft and colouring for children (ongoing)

Apple Cider Making and Tasting (10:30, 1:30)
What happens to all of the not-so-perfect apples that fall off the trees before they are picked? They are ground and pressed into cider! Visitors will love this demonstration because not only will they get to help operate the cider press, but a delicious sample of fresh cider awaits them at the end.

Apple Crisp Making (11:30, 2:30)
Visitors can learn all about the ingredients in this delicious dessert. Also, the best part is the tasting! Recipe will be available. (.pdf file, 24 Kb)

The Corn Corner (Demonstration Kitchen, Exhibition Area)
In the Corn Corner visitors can enjoy corn-related activities such as the Corn Quiz, corn bread making, and taking in the corn product display.

Corn Bread Making (10:00, 12:30, 2:00)
Visitors will be able to see a corn bread making demonstration in the Demonstration Kitchen. Visitors will learn step-by-step how to make this delicious bread, as well as savouring a sample. Recipes will be available.

Also...
Food Services (October 7-9, 14-15 and 21-22)
Food services will be available for the last three Harvest Weekends. The Hot Potato Company will provide stuffed baked potatoes with different garnishes, as well as salads, soup, and cold and hot drinks. Every weekend in October with the exception of September 30 and October 1.

  • Visitors can discover the exhibitions Tractors and The Farm: Plugged-In.
  • Children’s Activity Centre located on the Exhibitions level (for children 6 years old and younger).
  • Tally-Ho Horse-Drawn Wagon Rides ($), weekends, weather permitting.
  • Colouring activity in the Snack Area
  • Outdoor playground for younger kids.

The Canada Agriculture Museum connects Canadians and the world to the historical and current importance in everyday life of agricultural science and technology through engaging interpretive activities and products centred on an accessible demonstration farm.

Animal Barns and Exhibitions daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Admission Prices (GST included. Prices subject to change without notice.)

Seniors (60+): $5.00

Children (3-14): $3.00
Children under 3: Free
Families (2 adults and 3 children): $13.00
Families with additional children: $2.00 per extra child
Families with additional adults: $3.00 per extra adult
Members: Free
Special rates available for groups (20 or more).

Prince of Wales Drive, south of the traffic circle, north off Baseline Road. Free parking. The Canada Agriculture Museum is located on Prince of Wales Drive on the Central Experimental Farm.
