CURATOR'S BIO
Sandra Weizman is a museum curator, social historian, and a museums
and heritage consultant based in Calgary. She has a personal connection
to the story told in Acres of Dreams: her father's great uncle was
a homesteader who came to Alberta from Poland at the turn of the last century.
Her grandfather followed in the 1920s.
During a long and varied career, Weizman has worked for the Ontario
Historical Society, the Provincial Museum of Alberta (now the Royal Alberta
Museum) in Edmonton, the Canada Science and Technology Museum in Ottawa and
the Glenbow Museum in Calgary. She last worked for the Canadian Museum of
Civilization from 1987 to 1991 as curator of the widely acclaimed A Coat
of Many Colours: Two Centuries of Jewish Life in Canada, which toured
across the country and travelled to New York and Israel.
Weizman has two Masters Degrees from the University of Toronto: one in
Canadian History and the other in Museum Studies.
