The Division was created by the merging of the Archaeological Survey of Canada and the History Division in May, 2002. It is one of two research divisions at the Canadian Museum of Civilization (CMC). Through research, publications, exhibitions, and public presentations, the Archaeology and History Division allows Canadians and visitors from other countries to discover Canada's human history, from ancient times to the twenty-first century.
