Ottawa — The Honourable Perrin Beatty, President and CEO of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, will address the Empire Club of Canada on April 23, 1998.

The CBC is entering a new era, having completed massive budget cuts, a restructuring and a re-orientation towards its public mandate. Using standard measures of corporate accountability, Mr. Beatty will report on the changes made, achievements, and significant challenges still facing the nation's public broadcaster.

The luncheon will be held in the Ballroom, Royal York Hotel, Toronto. Mr. Beatty is expected to speak at 1:00 p.m., and will be available for comment following.
