Carole Taylor is New Chair of the CBC/Radio-Canada Board of Directors

Ottawa — The Government today announced the appointment of Carole Taylor to the position of Chair of the CBC/Radio-Canada's Board of Directors.

"Ms. Taylor brings to CBC/Radio-Canada vast experience in broadcasting, public affairs, arts and culture, and business. I am delighted by her appointment as Chair of our Board," said Robert Rabinovitch, President and Chief Executive Officer of CBC/Radio-Canada. "As we continue to strengthen Canada's national public broadcaster, I believe that Ms. Taylor's appointment will go a long way toward ensuring that the Corporation continues to meet both the needs and expectations of Canadians," added Mr. Rabinovitch.

As a seasoned journalist, Ms. Taylor's media experience spans over 20 years with CBC and CTV. She also has an extensive understanding of corporate governance issues. In addition to having served as a director and Chair of numerous other organizations, both public and private, Ms. Taylor has most recently served as Governor of the Council for Canadian Unity and as Chair of the Vancouver Board of Trade, the Vancouver Port Corporation and the Canada Ports Corporation.

"My commitment is to work with all stakeholders to help generate support for CBC/Radio-Canada, so that we can continue to provide high-quality, distinctively Canadian programming for our Canadian audiences," said Ms. Taylor.

Ms. Taylor's appointment is effective immediately.
