Johanne Charbonneau

Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer

Johanne Charbonneau is Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of CBC/Radio-Canada. Her responsibilities include all aspects of financial management and administration for the Public Broadcaster, a position she has held since November 2001.

Prior to joining the Corporation, she gained broad financial and senior management experience in both the public and private sectors. After a short stint in government and in the banking sector, Ms. Charbonneau spent 15 years at the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation, the last eight as Vice-President Finance and CFO. Her most recent position before joining CBC/Radio-Canada was that of Vice-President, Resources and CFO, at the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) where she was responsible for Finance and Administration, Human Resources, IT, the Public Research Library and Grant Administration and managed staff in Ottawa as well as in the regional offices. During the course of her stay at IDRC, she travelled and worked in many developing countries.

Ms. Charbonneau is a Certified General Accountant (CGA) and holds an MBA from Queen's University. She is a member of Financial Executives International (FEI) and the Treasury Management Association of Canada (TMAC), and has played an active role on both boards in the past. She has recently been elected to the Alterna Savings Credit Union Board of Directors and is the Vice-Chair of the Human Resources Committee. She is also serving a three-year term on the Certified General Accountants of Ontario's Board of Governors.
