  • The Group of Seven: Painters in the Wilderness
Tom Thomson, Emily Carr, and the Group of Seven painted pictures that vividly captured the beauty of Canada in a variety of styles. Their influence continues to impact Canadian identity and the international art world today. In these activities, students will have the opportunity to depict a Canadian image in the artistic medium of their choice, to create a triptych illustrating the life and art of one of the artists associated with or part of the Group of Seven, to write a position statement about the theories connected with the death of Tom Thomson, to create a storyboard articulating the impact of Tom Thomson, Emily Carr, and the Group of Seven on the development of Canadian identity, and to research the impact of the artists on the Canadian and international art world before creating a visual art work of their own inspired and influenced by one of the artists.
