The October Crisis: Civil Liberties Suspended Students will learn about and reflect on a “defining moment” in recent Canadian history. They will examine the reasons for the rise of the independence movement in Quebec, comprehend the motives and actions of radical groups, analyze leadership and crisis management, and become aware of the long-term implications of this event for relations between Quebec and the rest of Canada. They will further analyze why interpretations of historical events differ.
