Cold War Culture: The Nuclear Fear of the 1950s and 1960s Students will learn about the issues that led to the Cold War, as well as understand the implications of the Cold War for Canadians, particularly for young people. They will investigate the measures taken by individuals and governments to protect citizens in the event of nuclear war, and debate the positions of civil defence and nuclear disarmament. Finally, they will create a timeline of the events of the Cold War and Canada's involvement in them.
