  • Equality First: The Royal Commission on the Status of Women
In 1967, Prime Minister Lester Pearson struck a commission to “inquire into the status of women in Canada and to recommend what steps might by taken by the Federal Government to ensure for women equal opportunities with men in all aspects of Canadian identity.” In these activities, students will have an opportunity to understand life for women at the time, to define feminism and understand their own view of it, to evaluate the implementation of the commission today, and to write a speech about one of the issues raised by the commission.
