1. Not all reproductions of works in the National Gallery's collection are currently available on CyberMuse. Since the National Gallery of Canada respects the desire of certain artists to not publish images of their artwork on the Web, CyberMuse will never contain digital images of the whole permanent collection in its database. There are now over 10,000 online images, but the collection contains over 43,000 artworks. We continue to add images to the site so please return often.

2. The National Gallery of Canada does not make evaluations of value or worth, nor does it furnish legal authentication of works of art because it is not in the business of selling art. The Gallery does, however, offer a Curators' Clinics program, organized by the Volunteer's Circle of the National Gallery of Canada. Members of the public can bring in, by appointment, privately held works on paper and small Inuit sculptures for help in identification. To make an appointment, see Curators' Clinics for details.

There is no similar clinic for paintings. However, if you mail color slides of the work of art you own, as well as any copies of documentation you have on the work (for example, artist information, physical condition, previous ownership, date of purchase, exhibition history), the curators of the National Gallery of Canada may be able to help you identify the work and its importance.
