The Early Years of the AIDS Crisis Students will learn about the early response to the AIDS crisis and assess how this response reflects on our democracy. They will compare our reaction to the AIDS crisis to earlier reactions to other infectious diseases. Through their research, they will gain a clear understanding of HIV and AIDS symptoms, transmission, detection, and treatment. They will do in-depth research to find out about the current levels of infection and treatment throughout the world and develop a plan for helping Third World countries develop a response to their AIDS crises.
