  • Jean Chrétien: From pool hall to Parliament Hill
During Prime Minister Jean Chrétien's 40 years in politics, he evolved from being known as the "little guy from Shawinigan," to Pearson's parliamentary secretary, to minister of eight different portfolios, to one of Trudeau's most trusted MPs, and, finally, to three terms in Canada's highest political office. In these activities, students will have the opportunity to prepare a poster illustrating Jean Chrétien's political career, write a newspaper article explaining why Jean Chrétien was deemed "the one to watch" early in his political career, create a game based on the challenges and rewards of his career, develop and role-play a mock interview with Jean Chrétien, focused on one of his early challenges, and write journal entries, in-role, depicting Chrétien’s feelings and thoughts during his career.
