René Lévesque's Separatist Fight From 1960 to 1980, politics in Quebec were undergoing tremendous change. The biggest push was toward separation from Canada, and separatism’s most passionate proponent was René Lévesque. In these activities, students have the opportunity to gather initial impressions about Lévesque, to create a timeline of his life and career, to prepare and present a role-play interview with René Lévesque, to listen to and compare his speeches following the Parti Québécois victory in 1976 and the referendum loss in 1980, and to write a report about the Quebec political milieu of the 1960s and 1970s.
