  • The Ocean Ranger Disaster
Students investigate the chain of events surrounding the Ocean Ranger disaster, and record and illustrate the weather conditions before, during, and after the capsizing. They focus on existing safety measures and investigate safety measures put in place as a result of the disaster. They investigate the scientific theories relating to the capsizing of the Ocean Ranger. Finally, they complete in-depth research and prepare their own inquiry report about the disaster, focusing on balancing the need for energy with the need for human safety.
