Still committed to raising awareness and funds for spinal cord injury research, Rick Hansen launches the Rick Hansen Man In Motion Campaign in 2002. Commemorating the 15th anniversary of the original campaign, the tour rolls into Toronto where Hansen pays a visit to CBC Radio's This Morning program to discuss his goals. Hansen says he wants to raise enough money so that the average "person in a wheelchair doesn't have to wheel around the world again to draw attention to the issue."

• The 2002 Rick Hansen Man In Motion Campaign rolled across Canada from May 22 to June 30. Fundraising events for the tour included the sale of reflective safety stickers at all Pharmasave and SportChek retail outlets across Canada, and volunteer-organized marathon events.

• Five years earlier, Hansen embarked on a six-week, 17-city cross-country tour of Canada. His goal was to convince each Premier to create a neurotrauma fund that would see a percentage of traffic fines funnelled into a provincial fund. By the end of the tour, Hansen raised over $37 million dollars, and received commitments from seven Premiers to start a neurotrauma fund in their province.
