Alex Tanguay – Forward, Calgary Flames

Captain Jarome Iginla has shouldered the bulk of the scoring for the Calgary Flames over the past few seasons. The club hopes it has addressed its lack of offensive punch with the off-season addition of Alex Tanguay.

Tanguay, acquired from division rival the Colorado Avalanche on 2006 NHL draft day, has averaged just over a point per game over the past three seasons and has established himself as one of the more reliable scoring contributors in the league.

The 26-year-old forward will likely lineup alongside Iginla with the hopes that the two creative forces can get the Flames' offence back up to speed.

"I'm going to try to use certain assets of his game to hopefully enhance his play and enhance his scoring if we play together," Tanguay told the Canadian Press.

"We're going to be looking for each other, that's for sure."

A six-year NHL veteran, Tanguay has earned a reputation as a No. 1 left-winger, but there's a possibility rookie Flames coach Jim Playfair may choose to shift him over to centre – a position he hasn't played with regularity since junior.

The Flames have lacked a reliable centre to play with Iginla since Craig Conroy left the team after the 2003-04 campaign.
