Refining Your Search with Advanced Settings
You can refine your keyword search by
specifying advanced settings such as the artist's name or
title of work. You can also use the advanced settings instead
of the keyword search if you already know specific information
about the content you want to find.
You can define one or more of the following
advanced settings.
After you define the settings, click the
button to begin the search.
If you want to start a new search, click
the
button to clear all the information you've defined. You
can then enter the information for the new search.
Artist's Name
Type the name of the artist associated with the content
you want to find. You can type only a last name; you aren't
required to include a first name. The search assumes that
the last word you type is the artist's last name.
For example,
if you type "Claude Monet", the search uses "Monet"
as the last name. Remember that if you type only a last
name, the results include content for all artists with that
last name.
Note: If
you are using the Artist's Name in combination with a keyword
search, the results are affected by the Looking for value.
For example, if you specify that you are looking for all
of the words, the results include content that matches all
the words in both the Keyword search box and the Artist's
Name box.
Title of Work
Type the title of the work associated
with the content you want to find.
Note: If
you are using the Title of Work in combination with a keyword
search, the results are affected by the Looking for value.
For example,
if you specify that you are looking for all of the words,
the results include content that matches all the words in
both the Keyword search box and the Title of Work box.
Category/Medium
From the list, select the form of
the work. For example, select Painting for results that
include only paintings.
Note: Choose
CMCP to search for works that belong to the National Gallery,
but that are held in the collection at the Canadian Museum
of Contemporary Photography.
Culture/Nationality
From the list, select the culture or nationality associated
with the content you want to find.
Resources
Select the checkboxes that represent
the resources that you want to search. The results include
only the content belonging to the selected resources.
Note: A
checkbox is selected when a checkmark appears in it. To
select a checkbox, click it.
Click
the checkbox again to remove the checkmark.
