From October to April, both the National Gallery of Canada and the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography offer professional development workshops for in-service teachers at the elementary and secondary levels. Workshops for pre-service teachers are also offered. Topics covered include:
artworks and the curriculum: making connections;
- active observation and discussion of artworks;
- in-gallery activities and exercises to promote visual literacy and skill development;
- practical, hands-on, in-studio sessions (techniques, materials);
- identification of teaching resources and ways to support art education in the classroom; and
- introduction to CyberMuse, the Gallery’s online educational tool.

CMCP Half-day Workshop for In-service Teachers Explore photography as a tool for learning and self-expression. Find out about the role of light in photography, and make a sun print using some of the principles of design. Visit current exhibitions and find new ways to view and interpret photographs.
