Live From Stephenville: The 2006 MusicNL Conference and Awards Weekend

It's time to check up on the business of culture, the life of the working musician, and the great musical heritage of this province's west coast.

This weekend, the Performance Hour broadcasts live from Stephenville. That's where Music Newfoundland and Labrador holds its annual conference and awards show. We'll talk about music, take requests, hear the latest and greatest from locally released CDs, find out who's buying what and pay tribute to the musical legends of western Newfoundland.

This week's broadcast also marks the launch of our CBC Radio Two service in the Stephenville-Bay St. George area.

The Performance Hour is CBC Radio's regional showcase for the entire range of creative radio arts. Documentaries, features, drama, comedy, live concerts, studio sessions and disc-spin series all find a home here.

Radio programmers and performers use this hour to explore interesting and innovative ways of making great radio. The audience can expect the artistic voice of the province presented in an open format of specials and mini-series. Many of our ideas are listener-generated and our shows listener-created. If you want to hear new ideas, new music or fresh takes, listen to the Performance Hour on CBC Radio One in Newfoundland and Labrador.
