Poet(s) Laureate Competition

The window has now closed in our search for the next official poet laureate for the St. John's Morning Show. If you're not sure what we're talking about, the outgoing poets laureate - Michael and Christopher Pickard - dropped by to perform this bit of verse to launch our official campaign:

Outgoing poets laureate Michael and Christopher Pickard with their rhyming tips on how to be a successful poet for the Morning Show. (Runs 6:59)

As the Pickards mentioned, we were looking for submissions which include rhyming three key words: Ignatieff, Entitlement and Blog.

Here are the entries sent in - in the order they were received:

 Anne Whalen (Runs 1:49)

 Micheal O'Boyle (Runs 1:11)

 Cathy Anstey (Runs 0:31)

 Ian Gorner (Runs 0:40)

 Ellen Reid (Runs 0:35)

 Bev Brown (Runs 0:20)

 George Murphy (Runs 2:23)

 Peter Ardis (Runs 0:52)

 John Lubar (Runs 1:09)

 Dave Burley (Runs 0:46)

 Bruce Johnson (Runs 1:26)

 Dave Sullivan (Runs 0:36)

 Gary Cogswell (Runs 1:50)

From here we'll be making compilation tapes and passing them on to our judge. Our judge, by the way, is none other than television producer Mary Sexton. As the woman in charge of all the Newfoundland segments of the Canadian Idol TV series, we thought she'd make the perfect talent spotter for this event.
