HALIFAX (CP) - An 11-year-old Nova Scotia boy who was shot in the abdomen has been upgraded from critical to serious condition.
Jeremy Tanner, who was shot Thursday in Middlewood, is being treated at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax.
Family members have said the boy was shot as a 27-year-old man was showing off a new shotgun.
Police don't believe the shooting was intentional, but have said they expect to lay charges of criminal negligence causing bodily harm and careless use of a firearm.
A man who hasn't been identified is to appear in court Jan. 10.
