The Multicultural Council of Windsor offers "The Host Program"  to newcomers to Canada through the year.  Canadian Hosts  will help newcomers adapt to new surounding by helping with language, employment etc.  The program is open to Canadians interested in volunteering and learning about new countries and cultures and also open to all newcomers to Canada.

BOOKFEST WINDSOR 2006
Bookfest is a three-day event that celebrates all facets of the book - from the writing, to the artwork, to the book binding itself. This year's list of attending authors includes Maureen Jennings, whose Detective Murdoch mysteries are being filmed for television broadcast in 2007; Gail Nyoka's novel "Mella and the N'anga: An African Tale" was nominated for a Governor General's Award in 2005 in the children's text category; Ken Babstock will read from his new collection of poetry, "Airstream Land Yacht"; one of the most important voices in children's literature today, Christopher Paul Curtis brings his latest book "Mr. Chickee's Funny Money" to Bookfest; Louise Penny's first novel "Still Life" won the 2006 Arthur Ellis Award for Best First Novel from the Crime Writers of Canada; Noah Richler will discuss his book "A Literary Atlas of Canada", which is a literary travelogue of our country and its writers; Emily Schultz has a novel coming out in the spring entitled "Joyland", about sex, death, video games and growing up in the eighties; plus dozens of other writers, lecturers and moderators. Bookfest takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 3-5. All events take place at The Art Gallery of Windsor and the Central Library Branch of the Windsor Public Library. ELECTION NIGHT 2006
Join CBC Radio Windsor for complete coverage of the local races in the municipal elections. Tony Doucette and CBC Radio's election team will broadcast 'live' beginning at eight o'clock on election night, Monday, November 13. Joining Tony will be municipal affairs commentators Joyce Zuk (former Ward 1 Windsor City Councillor) and Anthony Leardi (former Deputy Mayor of Amherstburg). CBC Radio reporters will provide inserts with the latest poll results from the significant races in Windsor, Essex County, Chatham-Kent and Sarnia.
