Jazz Beat: 21 Years and Counting

With its October 3rd, 2004 broadcast, Jazz Beat has turned 21! That’s a special birthday in anyone’s book, and the Jazz Beat team is celebrating with great new season of concerts and studio sessions.

Over Jazz Beat’s history, the program has broadcast recorded concerts with all the greats of the music: Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Sarah Vaughan, Stan Getz and Ella Fitzgerald are just a few of the fabulous talents whom we’ve broadcast in the past, and our tradition continues. This season, listeners can look forward to concerts from Chick Corea, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Joe Lovano, DeeDee Bridgewater, John Scofield, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Joey DeFrancesco and many more.

As well, Jazz Beat continues to bring its audience the cream of the crop of budding Canadian talent in the jazz field. Our session and concert recordings keep you plugged into the national scene so that you can hear who’s cooking from coast to coast, before they hit the big time! And we’ll continue to document the latest output from Canada’s established jazz veterans, like P.J. Perry, Rob McConnell, Sonny Greenwich and more.
