The CBC Radio Orchestra celebrates the 100th birthday of Shostakovich!
In honour of this day, six Canadian composers pay tribute to his
musical signature, DSCH. Also music from the film Hamlet and the
First Cello Concerto with Yegor Dyachkov.

Headlines
Theatre: METH, November 30 - December 10
Headlines Theatre is working with Native and non-Native participants
on an audience-interactive, province-wide Forum Theatre production,
which explores the human, factors that lead to addiction. It will
be created and performed by individuals who have struggled with
addiction. In the new year METH will tour into many communities
across B.C. (January 15 to March 4, 2007)

Chor Leoni is a Canadian men's choir of the highest professional
standards. Its mission is to explore, expand and enrich the male
choir repertoire. They fulfill that mission through live and recorded
performances, national and international tours and by commissioning
new works for male choirs, especially by Canadian composers.

Cantata Singers: Season 2006 - 2007
The Vancouver Cantata Singers have created their own place in
the rich choral life that flourishes in Vancouver. While dedicated
to performing baroque music, the choir also commissions many new
works from Canadian composers and presents Romantic and Contemporary

Less is More: Japanese Zen Paintings of the Edo Period (1615 – 1868)
June 23, 2006 to November 12, 2006
Zen is a meditative school of the Buddhist religion. The fundamental
concept of Zen is said to have been brought to China from India
by the Indian monk Bodhidharma (Daruma in Japanese) in the 6th
century.
Throughout 1615 to 1868 a new wave of Zen monk-painters revitalized the
art of Zen painting. The dynamic imagery found in their work both inspired
and delighted audiences.
