Think Vancouver: Diversity Map
According to projections from Statistics Canada and predictions from Vancouver's Urban Futures Institute, our region's population will double to more than four million by 2044. And triple to over six million by the end of the century.
The vast majority of that growth will come through immigration. Primarily, as it has for the past few decades, from Asia. English will remain the main language but other languages will gain more prominence.
In Vancouver today, about one in three people or 37%, are a visible minority. In just over a decade, that number will climb to 50% and keep on rising.
To find out about the mix of people in your community click on the name below. The statistics used to create this diversity map are from the 2001 Canadian census.
