Norway's Marit Bjorgen wins another World Cup cross-country sprint

DUESSELDORF, Germany (AP) - Marit Bjorgen and Ella Gjomle of Norway won the women's 6x0.8 kilometre freestyle team sprint World Cup race Sunday with a time of 10 minutes 50.1 seconds.

It was the second victory of the weekend for Bjorgen, who won the individual sprint Saturday.

Bjorn Lind and Peter Larsson of Sweden captured the men's 6x1.5 event in 19:52.4.

Organizers called the 350,000 crowd for the World Cup season opener a record for the sport. Held in the city centre instead of the woods, the artificial snow track for the event is built along a river bank.

In the women's race, Britta Norgren and Lina Andersson of Sweden finished 3.7 seconds behind the winners, with Virpi Kuitunen and Aino Kaisa Saarinen of Finland were third.

Oystein Pettersen and Eldar Ronning of Norway finished second in the men's race, 2.6 back, with Renato Pasini and Cristian Zorzi of Italy third.
