The Development Information Program (DIP) financially supports the development of mass media and educational initiatives aimed at increasing awareness and understanding of international development and international cooperation issues among Canadians.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Communications initiatives and communications activities must be aimed at Canadian audiences.
  • International organizations must be part of a Canadian-led consortium or partnership to apply.

Eligible Activities

Submissions must satisfy four initial requirements. They must:

  • encourage public understanding, particularly youth, of international cooperation issues;

  • target a Canadian audience; and
  • be submitted by a Canadian organization/individual.

To be eligible, all proposals must focus on themes/activities that involve Canadian individuals, organizations or concepts, and must feature Canadian expertise, knowledge or opinions.

Summary

DIP supports the development of a wide range of mass media and educational initiatives, including:

  • television and radio productions;
  • school-based global education resources and activities for elementary and secondary school students and teachers;
  • publishing initiatives;
  • exhibitions;
  • media awareness and public awareness campaigns; and
  • the production of publications and other innovative projects that target a broad Canadian audience.

DIP has three main components: the Mass Media Initiative, the Global Classroom Initiative and the Journalism and Development Initiative.
