The following expenses, incurred by the Committee with respect to its study on the future of agriculture in Canada, were charged to the budget of the Committees and Private Legislation Directorate:

In the course of the First Session of the Thirty-Fifth Parliament, your Committee held thirty-eight meetings and heard one hundred and fourteen witnesses. Twenty-three of the meetings, at which ninety-eight witnesses appeared, were held jointly with the House of Commons Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food. Your Committee considered seven Government public bills (C-49, C-50, C-51, C-61, C-75, C-86 and C-92). In addition, it tabled an interim report for its special study on farm safety and farm-related health issues entitled: "Farm Machinery: Lost Lives, Lost Limbs"; an interim report for its special study on the future of agriculture in Canada entitled: "New Realities and Tough Choices: From Agriculture to Agri-Food"; and a final report on the same Order of Reference entitled: "Agricultural Trade: Report of the Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry's Fact-Finding Missions to Washington and Winnipeg." In all, your Committee issued twelve reports in relation to its work.

That when the Senate adjourns today, it do stand adjourned until Tuesday, April 30, 1996, at 2:00 p.m.

That a special committee of the Senate be appointed to examine and report upon the Annual Report and Corporate Plan of the Cape Breton Development Corporation and related matters;
That the committee be composed of twelve Senators, three of whom shall constitute a quorum;
That the committee have power to send for persons, papers and records, to examine witnesses, to report from time to time and to print such papers and evidence from day to day as may be ordered by the committee;
That the committee have power to sit during sittings and adjournments of the Senate; and
That the committee submit its final report no later than June 15, 1996.

That Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications have power to sit at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays for the duration of its study of Bill C-14, An Act to continue the National Transportation Agency as the Canadian Transportation Agency, to consolidate and revise the National Transportation Act, 1987 and the Railway Act and to amend or repeal other Acts as a consequence, even though the Senate may then be sitting and that Rule 95(4) be suspended in relation thereto.

Report on the Implementation of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement for July 9, 1993 to March 31, 1994, pursuant to article 37.3.3 (h)(ii) of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement as ratified by the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement Act, S.C. 1993, c. 29.-Sessional Paper 2/35-107.
