One soldier was killed and four were injured when an armoured vehicle rolled over on the highway to Kandahar on Nov. 24, 2005. The Department of National Defence said the accident involved an LAV-3 vehicle. The men were from Golf Company, Second Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment (2 RCR), stationed in Gagetown, N.B.

The men in the other two incidents were in Afghanistan as part of Operation Athena, which is Canada's commitment to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan.

The Department of National Defence said that an armoured personnel carrier, a LAV-3 turned over while on routine patrol on Highway 45, the main road to Kandahar, about 45 kilometres northeast of the city. The Canadian Forces was running convoys from Kabul to Kandahar as part of the redeployment to the southern part of the country.
